first_imgLiberian-British superstar Alonzo has for the first time openly revealed that his recent trip to Liberia was aimed at teaming up with some local headliners for his upcoming album project.Alonzo noted that he felt it is was very necessary to team up with Liberian artists to expand their fan base in Sierra Leone and other parts of Africa where he is popular.“This dream all started in Liberia. While it is true that I have been out of the country for years, coming back home to help the struggling industry that made me makes me happy,” Alonzo said.The artist, who just returned from Great Britain, said majority of the work on the current album was finished in Liberia and is meant to strengthen the Liberia – Sierra Leone connection.“At this moment, the song with Soul Fresh titled ‘LIB Party’ has been recorded and the one with Takun J and international artist Jon Bricks will be done while abroad. The truth is African music has gone international, but Liberia is not fully represented. And I’m here to break that boundary,” Alonzo said. He revealed that the album would not only be a blend of colloqua and Sierra Leone’s style of music, but that other elements from the two countries’ cultures would also be integrated.“Because the album will be highlighting both cultures, I decided to call it ‘Liberia and Sierra Leone Connection,” Alonzo noted.
