If you are a golfer, the name Dye will ring a bell with you. Even though Alice’s husband, Pete, is more famous for his golf course design, Alice was an integral part of their design business. Alice passed away recently at the age of 91. She and Pete were married for 70 years!Between the two of them, they designed 130 golf courses. One of these, of course, is Crooked Stick in Carmel. One of the more famous ones in the United States is Whistling Straights in Wisconsin. Some of their other famous ones are located in Italy, Florida, and California.Alice Dye was quite a golfer in her own right. She won 11 city titles in Indianapolis. I would like to thank the Indianapolis Star for much of this information.
