NTAL Holds 65th National Convention

first_imgNTAL President Mary Mulbah Nyumah.At least 200 delegates from the 15 branches of the National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL) have converged in Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh County, to participate in the 65th national delegates’ convention.The convention, which runs from August 12 to 15, 2018, is hosted under the theme, “Quality Education Transforms a Nation.” It is expected to be graced by the presence of the Association’s partners from the United States of America and Europe.The convention, according to its authorities, is mandatory in keeping with the NTAL’s Constitution, which requires the holding of a convention after every four-year, during which time a new corps of officers are elected to govern the affairs of the association.Delegates at the convention will review the past activities of the association, and formulate development plans for the next four years.They will also discuss membership education, recruitment, retention of new members and improve communication with its members as well as the development of membership database for the association.Other issues that will be highlighted by the delegates include the review of the dues rate, the recruitment of a full-time staff on the branch level and the quadrennial report. Delegates will also review the financial and audit report, the four-year strategic plan as well as the association’s constitution in a bid to amend some of the portions in the Constitution.Delegates will then discuss the association’s four-year budget, both at the county and national levels, and consider the amount to be paid as dues to support the programs and activities.“The ongoing construction works on the Association’s National headquarters project will also be highlighted during the convention to know the level of progress made thus far,” the release said.The delegates, according to the release, will also review the Association’s credit union loan scheme, to know how many teachers benefited from it since it was established.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
