The pole vault finals will take place Friday at 5:30 p.m. COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Southland Conference will have two representatives at the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, with Tyler Adams of Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin’s Antonio Ruiz set to compete. Events will be held at Gilliam Indoor Station in College Station, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M. Adams, the four-time Southland heptathlon champion and all-time high point scorer at the conference championship meet, will compete in the heptathlon and high jump in College Station. At the 2018 league meet in Birmingham, Ala., the senior Bearkat earned three gold medals in the heptathlon (5,544), high jump (7-01.75) and long jump (24-02.25) along with a sixth-place 60m hurdles finish for a final point total of 34. The coverage for day one begins at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday’s stream is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Sunday’s tape-delay airing on ESPN2 is set for 6 p.m. Ruiz took gold in the pole vault at this year’s conference championship with a cleared height of 18-00.50, the league’s best overall on the season.
