THE HISTORY BOYS AS 14-MAN DONEGAL HURLERS SEAL PROMOTION WITH SUPER WIN OVER FINGAL

first_imgMine’s a double! Paddy HanniganDonegal’s hurlers have taken a massive step up – and forward – after winning promotion to Division 2B today. They beat Fingal 2-16 to 0-08 in the Division 2B/3A relegation/promotion final despite playing the entire second half with 14 men at Breffni Park.Paddy Hannigan struck two glory goals, one in either half, to help Donegal to a convincing victory which none of the pundits predicted. Jamesie Donnelly was given a straight red card following an incident with Ross McGarry as the teams went in at half-time.Donegal fans reacted with anger to the referee’s decision which seemed harsh – with no action taken against the Dubliner. But Hannigan’s goals – and nine points from Kevin Campbell – put the Donegal men out of sight of Fingal who couldn’t make the extra man count against a side destined for victory with superb performance all over the park particularly from Danny Cullen, Joe Boyle, Lee Henderson and Ciaran Matthewson.Ray Durack and his team deserve huge credit for taking Donegal hurling – played in this county for centuries – another step up the national ladder. The Ulster Championship is next, and another go at the Nicky Rackard Cup.  THE HISTORY BOYS AS 14-MAN DONEGAL HURLERS SEAL PROMOTION WITH SUPER WIN OVER FINGAL was last modified: April 13th, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalhurlersPaddy Hanniganlast_img
